Many young people (myself included) are interested in doing voluntary work overseas but are dissuaded or prohibited from doing so because of the costs this programmes can involve. The average price for overseas volunteering is around £1000/$1500 a month, and whilst in many cases this is entirely reasonable given what is involved, for many people this is simply beyond the bounds of possibility.

The European Voluntary Service offers top class volunteering opportunities and is one of the few programmes in which the volunteer invokes no personal costs. Flights, accommodation, food, training and pocket money are all paid for by the EU. Hard work and dedication are expected in return, but provided that the volunteer chooses carefully and picks the project which is right for them, the work is a pleasure and dedication to the role automatic.
