Arsenal ended their Chelsea hoodoo in style, smashing 3 goals past Chelsea keeper Petr Cech and making their London rivals look like candidates for relegation. it was exactly what Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger would have wanted, after a disappointing 1-0 loss to Manchester United in their last game and in light of their abysmal record of 14 losses in 18 games against either Manchester United or Chelsea.

First Half: Arsenal Possession Forces Chelsea into Defense

Arsenal controlled possession early on, as Chelsea allowed them to keep the ball and looked to hit them on the break. This tactic has worked for Chelsea in the past, and has been employed by Manchester United as well as a means of defeating the Gunners. However, Laurent Koscielny and Johann Djourou looked dominant at the back, winning what few balls came their way. Chelsea struggled to create a single goal on target, while defending with ten players behind the ball to ensure that Arsenal could not threaten either.

Despite this, Arsenal's passing game was crisp, and the Gunners bided their time, waiting for an opening. It came in the 44th minute, with Arsenal almost steamrolling the ball into Petr Cech's net. The ball fell to three Arsenal players just yards from the Chelsea goal, where Chelsea defender Ferreira looked to have fouled Cesc Fabregas. However, Fabregas managed to touch the ball into the path of Alexander Song, who powered it past Petr Cech and into the back of the net.
